COAL TOWNSHIP — Elizabeth Mary (Feese) Vitale, 70, of West Independence St., was called home to heaven, Monday, May 31, 2021.
Elizabeth “Betty” was born Feb. 7, 1951, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Chester Salvatore and Ruth (Zieinski) Vitale. She moved to Shamokin in 1993.
She was raised and attended schools in New Jersey.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her daughters and her grandchildren, trips to the beach, shopping, talking with friends, learning how to Facebook and just being with her loved ones.
Family was everything to her coming from a big Italian family. She was always “Aunt Betty,” even if you were not related, she took on that role. Her family always gathered at her house for the holidays. She loved to cook all her Italian dishes passed on to her by her father. Betty was the cook of the family.
After her retirement, having worked at the Coal Township Walmart for 20 years, she enjoyed taking her two youngest grandsons to school in the morning and stopping at Dunkin’ Donuts to get them a special treat. Their Nana spoiled them with Legos and Pokémon cards. She would have sleepovers with them and play cards, even though they always said she cheated at Go Fish. She also spent a good amount of time with her granddaughters when then were younger, who also had sleepovers and enjoyed her Go fish technique. She will be sorely missed.
There are no words but seeing how much she was loved by everyone. We find comfort in that fact. May she rest in eternal peace.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Michelle Banegas and her fiancé, Andrew Popiel, and Christina Vitale and her companion, Wayne Webb Jr; her granddaughters, Kayla Martins, Brianna Lehman and Marissa Lehman, and her grandsons, Antonio Caban, Nikolas Beeman and Orlando Caban, all of Shamokin; her brothers, Charlie, Carl, Robbie (Anne) Vitale and Ralph Lolla; her sisters, Mary Taeffner, Donna Banegas and Christina DaCosta-Veletanga; her brother-in-law, Miguel Banegas; and more than 70 nieces and nephews and their families.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; four nephews, one being her godson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
