COAL TOWNSHIP — Ellen Sutsko, 84, of 837 W. Walnut St., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021.

Ellen was born in Shamokin on July 22, 1937, a daughter of Kyran J. and Helen D. (Llwellyn) Butkey.

Ellen graduated from St. Edwards High School in 1955.

Ellen married her loving husband, Charles “Coke” Sutsko, on June 7, 1958, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Marion Heights. Coke preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2016.

She was employed as a secretary at St. Joseph’s/Our Lady of Hope Church for 25 years.

Ellen was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Sutsko and Jeff Sutsko, both of Coal Township; one daughter, Susan, wife of Bill Radwanski of Surprise, Arizona; brothers, Kyran Butkey, Jr. (Frances) of Coal Township, William Butkey (Francine) of Coal Township, and Thomas Butkey (Genny) of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Maryann Stankunas (William) of Shamokin, Barbara Bronokoski (Joseph) of Mountville, and Joan Gratti (Anthony) of Kulpmont; many nieces and nephews; and her close cousins Catherine “Sis” Eccker of Sayre and Bill Brennan (Jeanette) of Pottstown, who were her travel companions.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Catherine Bailey, on Aug. 25, 2019.

Ellen loved doing things for her family. She always had a big smile and hugs for her loved ones and friends.

SUTSKO — Ellen Sutsko, 84, of 837 W. Walnut St., Coal Township. A religious funeral service for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St., at Maple Street, Coal Township. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Hope Church, 869 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township.
