SAN ANTONIO, Texas — James “Jim” R. Gallagher, 76, went to be with his Lord and savior, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jim was born on Dec. 7, 1941, to James and Sally Gallagher. He was raised in Centralia in the heart of the coal region and met the love of his life, Darlene, his senior year at Ashland High School.

He received a college scholarship where he played basketball, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in math from Susquehanna University. He earned a Masters of Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1967.

In 1962, Jim and Darlene started their life together and raised a beautiful family. He was a star basketball player in school and passed that same passion for sports on to his boys. He was active in his church where he was a charter member. Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and mentor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 52 years. He is survived by his sons, James R. Gallagher II, Jeffrey Gallagher and his wife, Laura, and Kevin Gallagher and his wife, Cindy; and six grandchildren, Sean, Evan, Megan, Jamie, Jack, and Ryann.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ashland, Pa. Interment following the service.
