PALMYRA — Joan Marie (Parker) Varano, 98, of Palmyra, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at Lebanon Valley Home, Annville.

She was born in Shamokin, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Matthew and Katherine (Meenahan) Parker. She was the youngest of seven children.

Joan was married to Anthony “Tony” A. Varano for more than 62 years until his death Nov. 9, 2006.

Joan was a strong, faith filled woman. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Palmyra, since 1972.

She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered as a source of love and support to all.

Joan is survived by three children, Patricia Sosnoskie, married to Charles, of Shamokin, Theresa Davis, married to Michael, of Palmyra, and Gary Varano, married to Carol, of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren; 12 (soon to be 13) great-grandchildren; and Joan’s extended family and caring friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the administration and staff at Lebanon Valley Home for the gentle, loving care they provided to Joan during her nine years as a resident.

VARANO — Joan Marie (Parker) Varano, 98, of Palmyra. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the convenience of the family. Private interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 25 W.
