John J. Dombrowski

COAL TOWNSHIP — John J. Dombrowski, 51, of 1024 W. Arch St., Coal Township, passed away, Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Sept. 8, 1967, in Shenandoah, a son of Rosemary (Levertavish) Styka, of Mahanoy City, and the late John Dombrowski.

John lived the early part of his life in Mahanoy City, and resided in the Shamokin-Coal Township area for the past 18 years.

He was a 1986 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School. He also attended McCann School of Business and Technology in Sunbury, where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice.

John served in the U. S. Marines. He was employed at Weis Markets in Sunbury and was of the Catholic faith.

John was a very active and dedicated firefighter. He was a member of the Citizens Fire and Ambulance Company, Mahanoy City, the Liberty Hose Company, Shamokin, and was a lieutenant at the West End Fire Company, Shamokin.

He is survived by his mother, Rosemary; his fiancé and the love of his life, Gina Latsha, of Coal Township; four sons, Jonathon Dombrowski, of Harrisburg, Aaron Dombrowski and his wife, Ciara, of Mahanoy City, Joshua Dombrowski and Cody Dombrowski, both of Coal Township; five grandchildren, Cameron, Kayliee, Evan, Makenna and Jace; and two brothers, Randy Dombrowski and his wife, Donna, of Schuylkill Haven, and Jimmy Dombrowski and his wife, Inez, of Pottsville.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eleanor and John Levertavish and Helen and Stanley Dombrowski.

DOMBROWSKI — John J. Dombrowski, 51, of 1024 W. Arch St., Coal Township. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with a Franciscan friar from Mother Cabrini Parish presiding. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
