READING — John J. Gross, 92, of Reading, passed away at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa J. Kraska-Gross.

He was born in Shamokin, a son of the late John and Verna Gross.

John served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

John was a metallurgist at Car Tech for 35 years until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church.

He enjoyed golf and fishing.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his brother, Anthony Gross, of Pacifico, California; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Gross.

GROSS — John J. Gross, 92, of Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, 925 Centre Ave., Reading, with the Rev. Angel L. Garcia Almodovar as celebrant. Interment with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital 2500 Bernville Road, Reading 19605, in memory of John.
