ELYSBURG — John W. “Jack” Molesevich, 68, of Elysburg, entered into eternal rest Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. It may have been a failing heart that took him away from us, but this man had one of the biggest, most loving hearts around.
He was born Nov. 27, 1952, in Danville, a son of the late John and Edith (Sands) Molesevich.
He graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1971.
On March 20, 1982, he married the love of his life, Donna (Varano) Molesevich, at St. Edward Church.
He once served as a local forest fire warden; however, he spent most of his life working on the railroad. He started his career working alongside his father in the communications and signal department. He retired from Norfolk Southern Enola Diesel Terminal as an electrician in December 2012. He also worked at the United Methodist Church as a custodian. In his retirement, he loved working at Knoebels Amusement Resort in the groundskeeping department where he had many friends.
John also served his community as a firefighter with the Elysburg Fire Department for more than 10 years alongside his son, Michael. He volunteered countless hours responding to emergency calls to help others in their time of need.
Despite his strong work ethic, he always took time to appreciate the little things in life. He loved the outdoors, watching wildlife, especially whitetail deer and bald eagles, feeding squirrels and wild birds, fishing, trains and photography. He was known to always have his camera with him. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his granddaughters.
John is survived by his wife, Donna, of Elysburg; his son, Brian and his wife, Amber, and granddaughters, Madison and London, of Tharptown; his son, Michael and his wife, Katie, of Shamokin Dam; his sister, Patricia Hauer and her husband, Steven, of Marion Heights; his brother, David Molesevich and his wife, Patrice, of Coal Township; his sister, Susan Petrovich and her husband, Steven, of Elysburg; a cousin, William Glowacki, of Coal Run; his mother-in-law, Kathleen Varano, and father-in-law, Anthony Varano, of Elysburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and brother- and sister-in-law whom he loved. He will be forever missed.
