ELYSBURG — Kenneth L. Murdock, 83, of 191 Birchwyn Dr., died at 7:28 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Shamokin, Feb. 20, 1938, a son of the late Victor and Eleanor (Sabournie) Murdock.
He was a graduate of Shamokin High School, Class of 1956.
Kenneth was married Aug. 1, 1959, in St. Edward Church, Shamokin, to the former Rosemary Lasitzkie who survives.
Soon after graduating high school, Kenneth started working for the FBI in Washington, D.C., as an analyst. Later he took a managerial position in the trucking industry, having worked for several trucking companies, including Follmer Trucking and Yellow Freight Trucking from where he retired.
He was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, where he was an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Shamokin chapter, 2nd Degree Knight.
Ken was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. More than sports, family meant everything to him. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He loved his time with his wife and family. He was a very loving, dedicated husband and father.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Rosemary; their children, Kenneth Murdock and his wife, Eileen, of Elysburg, Lisa Burns, of Elysburg, Kevin Murdock and his wife, Karen, of Bloomsburg, and Leslie Murdock, of Elysburg; seven grandchildren, Kenny Murdock and his wife, Chrysta, Elizabeth Murdock, John Burns, Amanda Burns, Nathan Murdock and his wife, Sarah, Nicole Murdock and Autumn Chassie; three great-grandchildren, Kenley, Reese and Wyatt Murdock; his brother, John Murdock and his wife, Roxanne; a sister, Millie Mowery; his brother-in-law, Tony Lasitzkie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Smink and her husband, Daniel; his brother, William Murdock and his wife, Marilyn; his son-in-law, John Burns; and his brother-in-law, Robert Mowery.
MURDOCK — Kenneth L. Murdock, 83, of 191 Birchwyn Dr., Elysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, with the Rev. Father Joseph Scanlin officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. There will be no viewing or hours of calling. Church and burial services will be private for the immediate family. Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
