COAL TOWNSHIP — Richard G. “Rich” Herb, 83, of Coal Township, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.

He was born June 6, 1938, in Shamokin, a son of the late Harry and Evelyn (Walters) Herb and a stepfather, Charles Shaffer.

Richard was married on Nov. 23, 1957, to the former Barbara A. Kline, who preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 2016. He was a 1956 graduate of Coal Township High School.

Rich lived most of his life in Shamokin. He worked at the Shamokin Shoe Factory, Clark’s Meat Co. and last at Kirsch Windows and Shades, Paxinos.

Rich enjoyed bowling, darts and fishing.

Rich is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Burns and her husband, John, of Shamokin, and Tina Robel, of Trevorton; a son, Richard H. Herb, of Trevorton; three grandchildren, Stephanie Hartopp, Christopher Burns and Corin Robel; and a sister, Jean, and her husband, Ron Schreffler, of Paxinos; and nieces and nephews.

HERB — Richard G. “Rich” Herb, 83, of Coal Township. A memorial visitation with the family will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to The American Heart Association.
