SHAMOKIN — Robert John “Bob” Luta Sr., 71, of 409 Spurzheim St., Shamokin, for the past 35 years, passed away at his home on Monday, March 11, 2019, with his loving family by his side.
Robert was born in Atlas on Jan.10, 1948, a son of the late Josephine (Dalpiaz) and John Luta.
On April 1, 1967, in Rahway, New Jersey, he married the former JoAnn Watts, who survives.
A mason by trade, he was employed as a cement finisher for the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local 5-PA.
Bob enjoyed many things in life including fishing, camping at World’s End, music and especially spending time with his family (1-4-3-7). His hobbies included playing pool and guitar, going to auctions and flea markets and rooting for his beloved New York Yankees.
Bob was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He was a loving and providing husband and father for his loving family, as well as for his children’s many friends who considered the Luta household their second home.
In addition to JoAnn, his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Bob is survived by seven children, Robert J. Luta Jr. and his wife Sabrina, of York, Shari A. Weaver, of Shamokin, James W. Luta and his wife, Nicole, of Shamokin, John M. Luta and his wife, Jessica, of Shiresmanstown, Daniel J. Luta and his wife, Jessica, of Coal Township, Bethann Luta and her fiance, Eric, of Shamokin, and Jeffrey S. Luta, of Shamokin; a sister, Patricia Dulinski, of Rahway, New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, George Mraz, of South Carolina.
Mr. Luta was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy (Luta) Mraz on July 31, 2017.
LUTA — Robert John “Bob” Luta Sr., 71, of 409 Spurzheim St., Shamokin. Family and friends are invited to call at the visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. A religious service will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. David Butler, of Bethel Union Chapel, officiating.
