COAL TOWNSHIP — Ruth Jane Latsha, 82, was welcomed to her eternal home Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Coal Township, Sept. 12, 1936, a daughter of the late Sterling “Fred” Munson and Edna (Wehry) Munson.

“Sis,” as she was known to most, married Gordon E. Latsha on Nov. 6, 1954.

She was employed for many years at the Shamokin Shoe Factory.

Sis was a faithful member of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Tharptown, singing in the choir and volunteering for numerous activities for the church. She worked in the voting polls and was elected minority inspector of her precinct.

She was an avid bowler for many years and was very proud of her average.

She was a wonderful mother to her daughter, Bonnie Ford and her wife, Evelyn Alpers, and her daughter, Sherry Lebo and her husband, Frank; three grandsons, Brandon Strausser, Eric Strausser and his wife, Lauren, and Samuel Strausser and his fiance, Katelynn Richards; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Samuel, Kristina and Karter; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is survived by her faithful cat, Bootsy; along with sisters, Barbara Munson, Juan Rocuskie and Shirl Callahan.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Fred and Donald.

LATSHA — Ruth Jane Latsha, 82, of Coal Township. A celebration of Sis’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Tharptown.
