The News-Item’s cheers and jeers from the past week of news:

Cheers to state Rep. Kurt Masser and state Sen. John Gordner for presenting a $300,000 state grant to the organizers of All Home Days for improvements to be made to the event’s dining room pavilion. All Home Days has a history that now spans more than 100 years in the Elysburg area — and the dining room pavilion is equally old and in need of improvements. Wayne Horne, an All Home Days board member, said he has hopes that the money will be able to be used for bigger and better events at the community facility.
