To the Editor: As we all come to terms with the news that the largest employer in Snyder County, Wood-Mode Inc., is closing after more than 75 years, our first thoughts go out to the nearly 1,000 employees and their families facing an uncertain future.

All of us at Geisinger stand ready to help in any way we can. To that end, Geisinger has immediately activated a team from our health plan to assist Wood-Mode employees secure health care coverage so that they can continue to access care whenever and wherever they need it. We are also opening a temporary, walk-in customer care center at the Susquehanna Valley Mall through the end of this month. Those with questions about continuing their health care coverage may also call us at 1-800-293-7162 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

To help these employees find new jobs, Geisinger is participating in several area job fairs as well has having recruitment specialists available at our Susquehanna Valley Mall location.

For more than 100 years, Geisinger has proudly served the communities of central Pennsylvania. This is our home, and the Wood-Mode employees are our neighbors. We are committed to doing our part to support the economic health of our region while delivering on our promise to promote better health for all.
