To the editor: I wanted to address the coaches and athletes of the Shamokin Area Indians football team.

Initially I was a bit sad and concerned when Henry Hynoski accepted the head coaching position. It wasn’t because I doubted “Hyno,” but the team’s past performance were really suspect. But I know Hyno’s bloodlines, his DNA: tough and proud with a determination to make everyone around him so much better.

He did not disappoint, and the players did not either. Your performance during the season was awesome; spectacular. I commend your dedication, courage and spirit to accomplish this football season. You proved not only me wrong, but many others. Your history and legacy are just beginning.

I’m a “Brady Brat” who will always bleed purple and white. The athletes of Shamokin and Coal Township have a proud history, and now it’s your turn to create a legacy. I have the utmost confidence you will.

Again, congratulations to all of you. We are rooting for you!
