To the editor: On the verge of the Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance’s 25th anniversary, we wanted to take this opportunity to get information out on how you can be a part of our group during this milestone year.

In March 1996, Bucknell geology professor Kirby and Northumberland County Conservation District’s Dave Moratelli conducted a public meeting at Shamokin Area High School. This was the first glimmer of hope that the possibility exists that Shamokin Creek can flow clean. In May of that year, the SCRA held its first organizational meeting.
