To the editor: Thursday night’s Government Study Commission meeting was very informative. I want to thank those candidates who were open and honest about their views and opinions on Home Rule. Of course, you had the one who didn’t know what she wanted, and that’s a very scary statement from someone who wants to lead this city for the next four years. Remember that on Election Day!

While politicians, whether in News-Item letters, articles, bar room talk or on Facebook, called me a liar and said I was using “scare tactics” to misinform people about truths of home rule, Mr. Hottenstein CONFIRMED that I was telling the truth to the public by saying that if the City of Shamokin went home rule, the majority vote of council would be able to raise your taxes if they needed/wanted to.
