Not more taxes!

My wife and I are senior citizens living in Mount Carmel school district and we are outraged to read in The News-Item that the district has raised its taxes for the second year in a row. We live in a small house in Shady Acres and we are paying an extremely high amount of taxes to the district as it is. We are senior citizens who no longer have children or grandchildren in the school. I am outraged by this and I would like to know, do people on welfare have to pay taxes into the school district or is it older people like us that have to foot the bill for unemployed people in the area?
