Custom rifle building and long-range shooting champion and instructor Bob Hart, right, prepares the inside of the shooting building on his 1,000-yard range in Sugarloaf as noted big-game hunter and client Sam Derugen, of Woodward, prepares for a practice round.

SUGARLOAF — All legitimate businesses pride themselves in their service after the sale.

For fourth-generation custom rifle builder Bob Hart, of Nescopeck, however, the nature of his business — building one-of-a-kind rifles and improving the performance of factory rifles — prevented him from providing full-service to his finished products. A long-range competitive shooting champion and long-distance hunter of big game himself, he had nowhere to test the capabilities of the finished products that came out the workshop at Robert W. Hart and Son.
