COAL TOWNSHIP — Despite not allowing his four sons to play football before seventh grade, or any sport before age 10, Shamokin’s Dr. Wayne Miller is a staunch believer in the value of football and other team sports.

A former quarterback and defensive back under Shamokin Area coach Joe Gubernot and a 1980 Shamokin Area graduate, “Doc” Miller has been the football team physician for 25 years and watched all his sons play for the Indians and serve as ball boys and water boys in their younger years.
