RED BANK, N.J. — Another competition, another stellar splash made by Shamokin Area swimmer Abby Doss.

In the YMCA Long Course National Swimming Championships, Doss zipped to the finish line with a time of 8:53.20 to win the 800 freestyle. That mark snapped a 10-year old record of 8:55.46, which was set by Laura Simon at the 2009 national title meet.

Doss also earned another victory in the 200 IM and set a time of 2:20.18.

The Shamokin senior once again is off on the right foot as the new school year is fast approaching and is leaving the competition in her wake.

Doss earned first place in the 200 IM and 500-yard free during state competition. She now has five state championships, six district titles to go along with seven school records.

Last spring, Doss verbally committed to swim at North Carolina State University in 2020.
