Black Bear

With the bear range and statewide population on upward swings, new and expanded hunting seasons created by the Pennsylvania Game Commission have gotten off to a successful start and are expected to result in hunters breaking the all-time state record of 4,350 set in 2011.

HARRISBURG — So far so good.

That, in the most simplest of terms, is the feeling of the Pennsylvania Game Commission who followed recommendations of its team of biologists in charge of monitoring and managing the increasing statewide population of black bears.
