MECHANICSBURG — Last June, the PIAA was offering recommendations for face coverings and return-to-play policies as high school sports teams began voluntary workouts for upcoming sports seasons, which weren’t even guaranteed to take place amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This June, the PIAA will be holding its final state championships of the academic school year at Penn State University without limiting spectators, which will cap off a year that saw state champions crowned in every PIAA sanctioned sport across the three seasons.
