Southern Columbia

Southern Columbia’s Gavin Garcia follows his blockers while on the way to the end zone during action against Wyoming Area last season at Anthony “Jake” Sobeski Stadium in West Pittston. The Tigers were originally scheduled to play Wyoming Area, who won the Class 3A state championship last year, again in 2020, but will not under the revised PHAC schedule, which only features games between conference opponents.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Southern Columbia running back Gavin Garcia has been nothing short of spectacular during his first two varsity seasons for the three-time defending PIAA state champion Tigers. It just so happened that he had one of, if not the most, prolific one-two punch in state history garnering the bulk of the attention, but that pair has moved on after graduation.

Now that the nation’s top-recruit Julian Fleming and the state’s all-time leader in touchdowns Gaige Garcia are moving on to play in the Big Ten at Ohio State and Michigan, respectively, the junior has the keys to run the show.
