COAL TOWNSHIP — If you’re going to open the season a month late, you may as well open it with a bang, which is just what Shamokin Area’s boys did Tuesday, beating defending District 4 4A champion Montoursville, 50-48.

Joey Tarr hit two foul shots with 5.9 seconds left to give the Indians the lead, and the Warriors’ Dillon Young missed a jumper from the top of the key as time ran out to give the Indians the win.
