COAL TOWNSHIP — Despite being below .500, Mifflinburg boys basketball clamped down and played like one of the better teams in the area en route to a 70-66 win against Shamokin on Wednesday night.

Brent Reed led the Shamokin surge in the second half and scored 10 of his 17 points during that time frame, and teammate Mason Filarski posted a team-high 19 points as the guard constantly maneuvered his way through the teeth of the Wildcats defense.
