Given the fact that two of the three members of Southern’s three-headed monster backfield were injured for over half the year, combining to rush for 4,320 yards between the trio was simply remarkable.

“We have been blessed to have very good backs for a long time, but when you look at the group of Gavin (Garcia), Braeden (Wisloski), and Wes (Barnes), it is hard to find any backfield that has had as much talent at the same time,” Southern coach Jim Roth said. “They each have the combination of speed and power, but when you throw in their athleticism, it takes them to another level. Defenses aren’t able to just key on one guy.”
