FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Back in 1984, a young man by the name of Jim Roth was hired to take over the Southern Columbia football program as the Tigers head coach. Fast forward 37 seasons and Roth, now in his early 60’s, is still guiding the 10-time PIAA champions on the gridiron.

During this nearly four-decade magical run, he has cemented his legacy as not just the most successful coach in Pennsylvania history, but one of the most successful across the nation. From a statistical standpoint, there hasn’t been a coach anywhere else in the United States that has had a better winning percentage than Roth during his tenure.
