MOUNT CARMEL — Most people who follow Pennsylvania high school football would agree that Mount Carmel has consistently been one of the best eight teams in Class 2A statewide.

However, the Red Tornadoes’ season ended on Friday the way it has three of the prior four years — with a 10-3 record and a loss to Southern Columbia in the District 4 Championship, prohibiting them from reaching the PIAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2011.
