COAL TOWNSHIP — On the eve of what will surely be a memorable game, rookie New York Giant and former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley wished the Shamokin Area football team good luck against Southern Columbia prior to tonight’s game in Catawissa.

During the 14-second long video, which was posted to the Indians’ Instagram on Thursday evening before circulating Twitter and Facebook, Barkley states, “I heard you guys were playing Southern Columbia this week — undefeated — and I want to wish you guys good luck.

He continued, “Just continue to work hard and all of your dreams will come true.”

Tonight’s 7 p.m. game will feature Shamokin head coach Henry Hynoski, a former Giant himself, facing off against his high school coach, Jim Roth, during Southern Columbia’s homecoming at Tiger Stadium.
