FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Much like his older brother over the last four years, Gavin Garcia hasn’t seen much second half playing time this season. And that is because of performances like the one he turned in on Friday in the District 4 Class 2A championship game.

Garcia, whose outlandish yards per carry average actually fell last week despite averaging over 11 yards rushing in Southern Columbia’s district semifinal win over Line Mountain, scored four touchdowns on just six carries in the first half alone and finished with 168 yards on those six touches (28 avg.) to lead Southern to its sixth straight district championship and its 28th in the last 30 years with a 49-14 win over South Williamsport.
