ALTOONA — After what has been mostly a romp through the roses for Southern Columbia this season, things get a little more meaty Saturday when the 9-0 Tigers take their 57-game winning streak on a two-hour bus ride to Altoona to face District 6 champion Richland (8-1) in the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinals.

The Tigers and Rams met last season in a battle of unbeatens in the semifinals at Selinsgrove, with Southern winning 49-27, a final score which wasn’t that close. Southern built a 42-6 halftime lead after giving up an early touchdown.
