Southern Columbia advances to Class 2A final

Southern Columbia head coach Jim Roth watches his team threaten the Northern Lehigh end zone during a Class 2A seminfinal game last month at Lehighton Area High School.

Upon review by the PIAA executive staff, Southern Columbia’s football team will not be forced to move up to Class 3A for the next two-year classification cycle.

The Tigers, who are currently five-time defending state champions in Class 2A, were informed Thursday night in a letter from the PIAA that they didn’t have the required three transfers needed along with the competition points to be forced to bump up a class.
