COAL TOWNSHIP — It certainly wasn’t the prettiest of Southern Columbia’s seven shooting displays in this young season, but the Tigers’ offensive struggles were consistently nullified by their dominant rebounding efforts en route to a wall-to-wall 55-38 victory over District 11’s Mahanoy Area at Shamokin Area High School on Tuesday.

Southern (7-0) labored with converting on attempts from close-range, shooting a mere 38% (18-of-47) inside the paint, but frequently acquired second- and third-chances by outrebounding the Golden Bears (2-3) by an astonishing tally of 48 to 16.
