Warming up before Wednesday’s Class 1A state semifinal, members of the Southern Columbia girls soccer team sported T-shirts with the words, “Weather the Storm,” emblazoned on them.

“Last year in the state quarterfinals, we played in sleet, and we won that game,” Southern Columbia senior Sophie Shadle said. “It was such an ugly game, but we won that game and beat the weather. Now we use it for everything, whether it’s if the calls aren’t going our way or if our touches aren’t good.”
