As sophomores, Mount Carmel’s Lauren Shedleski and Southern Columbia’s Karly Renn just missed earning medals at the 2019 PIAA state track and field championships and, like every other competitor this year, both will be champing at the bit this season following the non-season of 2020 due to COVID-19.

Shedleski finished ninth in the 2A javelin two years ago with a throw of 118 feet, 3 inches, and is seeded third this year (132-11). Slippery Rock senior Maryann Ackerman, the runnerup in 2019, is seeded first this year at 140-4. If Shedleski can approach her career best of 135 feet, she should be right in the hunt.
