COAL TOWNSHIP — Lourdes’ Francis Czeponis recorded six kills and three blocks as the Red Raiders swept North Schuylkill on senior night.

After winning the first set, 25-15, Lourdes took the second set, 25-20.

Emma Gownley tallied five aces and four kills and libero Doherty Fesniak added 17 digs for the Red Raiders.

Lourdes’ Meryl Czeponis and Anna Gownley combined for stupendous production as the duo had 17 assists.

The Red Raiders capped off the win with a third set score of 25-18.

DaniRae Renno accounted for seven digs for Lourdes.

Central Mountain 3, Shamokin 1

MILL HALL — Central Mountain held off the Indians in the first two sets and earned a home win, on Thursday.

Shamokin made it close in the first two sets, but lost both 21-25 and 22-25, respectively.

Morgan Nolter had seven kills and one ace and Gabby Greager added four kills plus 20 digs for the Indians.

Shamokin battled back and captured the third set, 25-23.

Central Mountain bounced back to take the fourth set, 25-16.

Field Hockey Mifflinburg 4, Southern 1

Southern Columbia’s Vanessa Damgaard got her 300th save during a hard fought contest with Mifflinburg, on Thursday.

The Tigers led 1-0 at halftime, courtesy of a penalty stroke by Sarah Rodriguez.

The Wildcats scored four unanswered goals in the second half as Brianna Doebler drilled two corner shots to help the team get a 4-1 win.

BALLS MILLS — The Tigers shut out the Mountaineers, 1-0, on Thursday.

Southern’s Tori Romania knocked in the lone goal with 36:24 remaining in the second half; Kari Cambria had the assist.

Goalkeeper Rilyn Wisloski posted six saves for the Tigers in the victory.
