MOUNT CARMEL — Mount Carmel defeated Shamokin girls swimming, 71-66, during Thursday’s dual meet held at the Mount Carmel Area High School pool.

Kaylee Kane won two events, the 50-yard freestyle (26.48) and 100-yard freestyle (59.89) to lead the Red Tornadoes to the team victory.

Miranda Fiamoncini won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:24.93 and Gianna Picarelli took home top honors in the 500 freestyle in 6:39.36 to help support Kane’s strong performance.

Shamokin’s Gabrielle Doss won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:14.99 and cruised to an uncontested win in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.82.

The Indians attempted to overcome the points deficit with wins in the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays in 1:52.71 and 4:19.48, respectively, but were unable to bridge the gap.

MOUNT CARMEL — Though both teams have participation problems, Shamokin had a few swimmers more than the Red Tornadoes and cruised to a 54-15 victory Thursday.

Quinn Rollman scored 261.30 during the diving portion of the swim meet.
