COAL TOWNSHIP — Shamokin (1-1) fought off match point in the fifth game and powered past Lourdes 15-13 to seal the first win of the season Thursday at Lourdes (1-2).

The Red Raiders won the first game 25-23 before faltering in the second game 12-25 and allowing the match to be tied.

Shamokin then won a closely-battled game three and edged a 26-24 win before falling 20-25 in the fourth game to force the fifth set.

The Indians fought off game point and went on to win 15-13.

TURBOTVILLE — The Indians were held scoreless for the second-straight game while sustaining an onslaught of Defenders offense during a HAC-II contest Thursday at Warrior Run.

The loss brings Shamokin’s overall record to 0-3, with an 0-2 log in HAC-II competition.

WILLIAMSTOWN — Lourdes Regional’s Adam Sandri scored the Red Raiders’ lone goal on a Joey Nguyen assist late in Thursday’s 7-1 loss to Williams Valley in Williamstown.

The Red Raiders are now 0-2 in Schuylkill League Division 2 play.
