COAL TWP. — Not much has been easy this season for Shamokin Area’s softball team, but the Indians have persevered after a rough 0-3 start, and they did much the same Wednesday with a big 6-5 Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference Division I win over Danville.

The Lady Ironmen, who beat Shamokin three times last season including a comeback win in the district championship game, and had a 4-2 win earlier this season, took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a leadoff solo home run by pitcher Cara Bohner and a double by Dejah Jones, who scored on a wild pitch.
