TUNKHANNOCK — The Line Mountain High School girls softball team made history Monday afternoon by winning its first ever state playoff game by way of a 6-0 victory over Elk Lake in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A state playoffs Monday evening at Tunkhannock Area High School.

The hot, humid weather and two-hour plus drive to the Wyoming County school district appeared to have no effect on Eagles’ pitcher Kya Matter, who fanned 14 Warriors, including three in the seventh, and allowed just four hits on the strong gloves of her defense.
