Results and fallout from last weekend’s TLC pay per view, including a huge pre-Christmas week for Roman Reigns, strong AEW Dynamite and NXT shows this past Wednesday and the premature death of an NFL great who crossed over into pro wrestling and impressed wrestlers and fans alike are three of our top stories this week as we close out 2020, a year that was extraordinarily challenging for everyone, including the pro wrestling industry.

At last Sunday’s TLC event at the new home of the Thunderdome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre both retained their major titles with wins over Kevin Owens and AJ Styles, respectively, in dramatic TLC matches that were imaginatively booked and well-executed. There were plenty of swerves and false finishes in both contests (taking a bit of grammatical license there with the word contests), as well as considerable outside interference, including The Miz trying unsuccessfully to cash in his briefcase opportunity, which he later blamed on friend John Morrison and Jey Uso assisting his Tribal Chief.
