World Wrestling Entertainment is set to offer its Backlash show on pay-per-view and its own network tomorrow evening with a card headlined by a world title defense by Drew McIntyre as he faces top challenger Bobby Lashley and a bout billed as possibly “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” between former friends Randy Orton and Edge. Asuka will put the Raw women’s belt on the line against the always dangerous Nia Jax. Braun Strowman is scheduled to defend his Universal championship against both the Miz and John Morrison. Andrade is slated to face Apollo Crews for the United States title. The women’s tag team belts are on the line in a three-way with Bayley and Sasha Banks defending against the Iconics and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Sheamus battles Jeff Hardy.
The event was originally scheduled for Philadelphia, but due to the virus pandemic, the matches will be from the Performance Center in Orlando. Reports indicate the Orton-Edge bout has already taken place, having been recently taped in front of the NXT trainees in attendance with social CDC guidelines being followed as required in Florida. Obviously, the Edge-Orton match has a lot of pressure on it to be very good since they are billing it with the outlandish tag of “greatest wrestling match ever”.
