Results and fallout from last weekend’s Backlash pay per view and this past week’s television highlights are our focus this week In This Corner, as pro wrestling struggles to heat up interest in the sport during this unusual summer, while other sports endeavor to find a way to return to the scene that wrestling never left.

Drew McIntyre pinned Bobby Lashley to retain the WWE heavyweight championship at Backlash last Sunday in a very good big-man match hurt ever-so-slightly by a bogus finish when Lana came out to ringside near the end and was on the apron to accuse the referee of cheating before getting knocked off inadvertently into the waiting arms of manager MVP, allowing a distracted Lashley to catch a Claymore kick to the face that immediately preceded the pinfall. The less-than-clean finish likely means the program will continue.
