COAL TOWNSHIP — There was no victor of this year’s Coal Shovel game as Shamokin and Mount Carmel played to a 5-5 tie Saturday night at Kemp Memorial Stadium.

It was a tale of two halves with Mount Carmel (8-2-2) leading 4-1 at the end of one, but Shamokin (8-5-1) clawed back, scoring four in the second half. Exhausted, neither team could find the back of the net over the course of two overtimes, timed at 10-minutes apiece.
