Mount Carmel Area football players hold up the Coal Bucket during a bon fire in Kulpmont prior to the annual contest last year. This year's annual rivalry game between Shamokin and Mount Carmel football teams will not be played.

Congratulations for reading this far. Not too many people read past the headline anymore.

If this was not the case, perhaps everyone would not be arguing on whether or not Shamokin will, or should, receive the Coal Bucket this year following Mount Carmel’s decision to cancel the rest of its season earlier this week in lieu of a hazing incident.

Teams should just get together and play who cares if its not scheduled. After Shamokin is done with their season play an unofficial game for the bucket.
