State Track, Southern

The Southern Columbia’s 400-meter relay team, from left, Gavin Garcia, Jake Rose, Jake Davis and Braeden Wisloski, pose for the camera after winning gold during the PIAA Class 2A Track and Field Championships on May 28 at Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University. Southern finished first with a time of 42.59 seconds and won the Class 2A team title with a total of 62 points.

Just two boys and girls track and field teams get to walk out of Shippensburg University over Memorial Day weekend each year with the title of state champions.

Following a year without a season, the 2021 championship meet seemed to have more relevance than others of the past, and Southern Columbia’s boys came in with confidence and determination to leave no doubt of what school was the best.
