Shamokin competition cheerleaders honored by city

The Shamokin Area High School competition cheerleaders have their photo taken with city council and administration after being recognized prior to Monday’s regular meeting at City Hall. The squad was crowned district champs in large varsity at the District 4 Competitive Spirit Championship in January.

SHAMOKIN — Shamokin City council and administration recognized the Shamokin Area High School competition cheerleaders prior to Monday’s regular meeting at City Hall.

Coached by Tammy Rhodes, the squad was crowned district champs in large varsity at the District 4 Competitive Spirit Championship in January. It was the first district title for the Indians.

The squad placed 11th at the Competitive Spirit Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey. It was their second trip in two years to the event.

Each athlete received a personalized certificate of achievement from the city.
