Drew McIntyre regained the WWE heavyweight championship by defeating Randy Orton via pinfall after a Claymore Kick in the main event of this past Monday’s Raw at the Thunderdome. It was the first time in five years that the company’s main prize changed hands on Raw with the result changing one of the major bouts scheduled for tomorrow evening’s Survivor Series that is ostensibly headlined by The Farewell of the Undertaker and non-title matches between the champions of Smackdown and Raw.

Unfortunately for McIntyre, the two biggest moments of his wrestling career, beating Brock Lesnar for the belt at WrestleMania and regaining it this past Monday at Raw, literally occurred without much fanfare as pro wrestling’s major driving force, the fans, are not able to be present in any meaningful number during the crazy days of the worsening pandemic of 2020.
